5. Comparative Advertising

Do you know that comparative ad with company/product name is prohibited in Japan? People regard comparative ad as criticism. But, I think comparing is good strategy, which is really simple, straight, making-sense, and easy. Also, comparative ad is funny.

Mac vs. PC

Pepsi vs. Coca Cola

Adidas vs. Nike

What do you think about comparative advertising? Is it defamation? Is it ethical?
I think if ad is not attacking another (if ad is just only comparing), it is ethical. But, it is hard to find borderline between comparing and attacking.
